What is the Ecoflo biofilter?
The Ecoflo biofilter is the most sustainable wastewater treatment system on the market. It can simply be added to an existing septic tank for the secondary treatment of wastewater, or to a sewage treatment plant for tertiary treatment of wastewater. The Ecoflo septic system, which comprises of an Ecoflo biofilter and a Rewatec septic tank, can also be installed as part of a new wastewater treatment scheme to protect your property and our environment for generations to come.
Non electric sewage treatment
Natural, organic and exceptionally reliable, this non electric sewage treatment plant incorporates a patented coconut husk fragment-based filtering media; a rehabilitated and natural organic material which treats the wastewater using zero energy.
It is designed for standard residential properties, small commercial buildings, and due to its ability to cope with periods of no use, is ideal for seasonal holiday homes, campsites and rental properties.
Silent and odourless and with an exceptionally high quality of final effluent, the Ecoflo biofilter is also perfect for Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The Ecoflo biofilter complies with EN12566-3 as a domestic sewage treatment plant and with EN12566-6 for use after septic tanks. It also complies with EN12566-7 for tertiary treatment of wastewater.

The Ecoflo biofilter is how we make a sustainable difference. Together.
In a bid to further preserve our watercourses, rivers, streams, eco-systems and ultimately our planet, areas of the UK are already beginning to stipulate stricter effluent standards for sewage treatment plant outflows.
New sewage treatment plants
By removing suspended solids and other pollutants in wastewater effluent to an even higher standard, installing an Ecoflo biofilter can further prevent groundwater and water pollution in the UK. This is turn can reduce tainted drinking water, reduce water scarcity and shortages, limit the environmental impact on rivers, lakes and their habitants and ultimately protect your property and our planet.
Septic tank users
Install an Ecoflo biofilter and conform with the 2020 General Binding Rules (GBRs for septic tanks or small sewage treatment plants for domestic use), without the hassle or expense of replacing your existing system or installing a new drainage field. Installing a new Ecoflo septic system also provides you an energy free wastewater treatment solution. No connection to mains power, no costly electricity bills.
Tertiary treatment of wastewater
Help preserve our environment, connect an Ecoflo biofilter to your existing sewage treatment plant for much improved final effluent quality and be prepared for stricter standards.
How does the Ecoflo biofilter treat wastewater using no energy?
Step 1 - wastewater inflow
Wastewater effluent flows from your sewage treatment plant or septic tank into the Ecoflo biofilter for additional treatment.>
Step 2 - non-mechanical tipping bucket
Inside the Ecoflo biofilter, wastewater is scattered across perforated distribution plates before falling across the coconut husk filter.
Step 3 - coco filter
This filter is the heart of the Ecoflo biofilter. It creates a physical treatment barrier that cleans the effluent to an even higher standard.
Step 4 - final discharge
After percolating through the all-natural filter, water is then safely discharged into the environment.
No energy is required for treatment, making this non electric sewage treatment plant the sustainable and economical system of choice!
