What is an ASP domestic sewage treatment plant?
An activated sludge process (ASP) sewage treatment plant is a compact solution to treat domestic wastewater. Through biological digestion and natural clarification, the system produces cleaner effluent than a traditional septic tank.
Our Rewatec ASP sewage treatment plant is ideal for residential and small-scale commercial projects.
Available in glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or polyethylene, our system provides a durable design, low installation and maintenance costs, and a minimal final footprint.
Where are our ASP domestic sewage treatment plants used?
The Rewatec ASP domestic sewage treatment plant is most often a solution for:
- primary residences
- small communities and developments
- small-scale commercial projects
How do our ASP sewage treatment plants work?
The Rewatec ASP domestic sewage treatment plant is comprised of a single tank. Inside the tank, a central biozone chamber is surrounded by a settlement zone.
Biozone chamber
Wastewater first flows into the tank's central biozone chamber. A coarse bubble diffuser aerates the wastewater to break down solids and provide oxygen to microorganisms that feed on organic pollutants.
Settlement zone
After aeration, microorganisms and remaining solids flow into the settlement zone and sink to the bottom of the tank. They become what is known as activated sludge.
The system recirculates a portion of this material back to the biozone chamber to treat incoming wastewater.
A local service professional periodically removes any excess sludge.
Discharge and final dispersal
After treatment, the system discharges effluent via gravity or an integrated pump.
