What is a holding tank?

Rewatec holding tanks

A holding tank receives and temporarily stores sewage until it can be removed by a septic pumper. It is a solution for any property where municipal or on-site wastewater treatment is impossible or impractical.

With up to 50,000 L of nominal capacity, Rewatec holding tanks are ideal for virtually any size of project. All models are built to last, featuring a ribbed design that prevents breakage and a tough polyethylene shell that stands up to years of use.

Rewatec holding tanks are delivered as one-piece units with no leaky seams that could contaminate your property or the surrounding environment.

Applications

  • remote properties
  • second homes
  • seasonal cottages
  • temporary building or renovation projects
  • sites too small for on-site treatment systems

How do our holding tanks work?

Wastewater from bathrooms, kitchen drains, dishwashers, and washing machines runs into a main drainage pipe that flows into the holding tank.

The holding tank has no outlet or partition walls. Its only job is to safely store raw wastewater until it can be removed by a septic pumper and transported to a treatment plant.

Inside the holding tank, a high-level float is connected to an alarm that activates when the reservoir is almost full. This warning system prevents over-filling that, if left unchecked, could result in a sewage backup.

Holding tank maintenance

Protect your investment in your property by having your Rewatec holding tank regularly pumped by a qualified septic service professional.

The frequency of service depends on the size of your tank, the amount of wastewater you generate, and the environmental regulations in your area. It is best to speak with a local septic professional to determine the service schedule that is right for you.
